Most professional painters will
recommend you apply a small amount of your chosen main body
color to the back side of your home as a sample prior to
painting. It is amazing how different a color can
appear in the sunlight on the back of your home than what it
does on a tiny color swatch at the paint store. Most
paint stores will mix a quart of paint for this process for a
lot less money than a full gallon. The money spent up
front on some samples and getting your color to your
satisfaction is well worth the aggravation and expense of
repainting due to a color not turning out like you expected.
The Architectural Review
Committee recommends a satin paint finish for the body
and trim of the home, and a semi-gloss finish for the
front door. In addition to providing a superior
appearance to flat, satin will retain its color and appearance longer
than flat due to its resistance to chalking and fading.
Take the time to drive around the neighborhood and compare the
two styles of painting garage doors. Some garage doors are painted in
the trim color of the home and others are painted the same color as the
body of the home. Be sure to let your painter know what style
you prefer..
